The Liechtenstein-based Hilti Group supplies the global construction industry with leading-edge products, systems and services. With a global workforce of 21,000 employees, operating in more than 120 countries worldwide, the Hilti Group strives to fulfill customer requirements and build up a better future, facing multiple operational challenges. It manages a total of 200,000 customer contacts a day, operates its own production sites along with research and developments centers in Europe, Asia and Latin America as well as a great number of Hilti centers, all requiring a highly secure and available communications network.

A1 Builds Up and Operates Global Corporate Network
At the company headquarters in Schaan in Liechtenstein, all IT applications are centralized and globally interconnected across 26 countries via the A1 Global MPLS Service. This allows the Hilti Group to be totally independent from any public networks including the Internet, thus guaranteeing maximum reliability for all its IT and communications services, including its contact center and central SAP system.

“A1 will take over responsibility for the operational management and maintenance of the Hilti network at 350 business sites across Europe and South Africa. We are the ideal partner to manage the global interconnection of all Hilti IT services, providing local support and comprehensive international experience,“ said Alexander Sperl, A1 CCO.

Communications Between Business Sites Via A1 Hosted Communication Service
In addition to providing a global interconnection service for the Hilti Group, A1 will also supply its Austrian business sites with A1 Hosted Communication Service – a state-of-the-art, centrally managed telephone system, which also integrates mobile phones. Functionalities, such as private branch exchanges or a shared voicemail box for fixed line and mobile devices, are software-controlled and centrally managed at A1’s computing center. The single business branches are only equipped with the telephone sets.

“In addition to enabling considerable cost savings, the overall administrative burden related to setting up new workstations or building entire new branches from scratch is significantly reduced and all services are provided from one single source,“ said Tobias Rölz, Head of Workplace Services at Hilti Aktiengesellschaft.
